An Economic Issue

One economic issue I could think of is the rampant smuggling of goods like rice, onions, garlic and other agricultural products to the Philippines. Usually, these goods came from Vietnam. They sell it cheap to the Filipino merchandisers because they are subsidized by the government. When these goods reach the market, the businessmen will have much bigger profit if compared to buying goods straight from Filipino farmers because they have less taxes to pay. This situation is unfair to our farmers.

Filipino farmers will have to spend a great deal because of fertilizers, seeds and other expenses related to planting and harvesting. If demand for their goods decreased, then it will be possible that their capital will not be returned. They will have less income, thus resulting to financial difficulty. It is unfair for their part because they have worked hard and still our government projects implemented to help them are not enough. I wish farmers will also be subsidized by government and buyers will also buy what is our own. We should help each other out.
